Transforming our Streets into Liveable Spaces

May 1, 2016

The Riyadh new Metro is a promising project that will change the face of the city. The Riyadh Metro is expected to change the live, daily routine and culture of the resident of the capital. This research aims to investigate and evaluate the current situation of Riyadh’s neighbourhoods and streets. It attempts to suggest alternative design measures that need to be considered in order to transform the current streets and roads situation into safe walkble streets that enhance the liveability of the space.

The goal of the study is to improve the liveability of our streets by suggesting new provisions to pedestrian pathways in order to increase pedestrian connections to metro and transit stations, continued development of street standards that embrace the pedestrian and reduce emphasis on vehicles.
